Operating a food business without an FSSAI licence can attract a penalty of up to ₹5 lakhs and imprisonment of up to 6 months.

FSSAI registration is not a one-time process. Every Food Business Operator (FBO) must renew the registration before its expiry to continue operating legally. Timely renewal helps avoid penalties and ensures uninterrupted business operations.
